The engine control unit (ECU) regulates boost pressure, injection quantity, injection timing and rev limits. From the factory, these parameters are set below the technical maximum for liability and compatibility reasons. Professional calibration unlocks this potential without touching the hardware.

OBD & Bench Tuning

Depending on the machine type, the ECU is read and written via the OBD port or directly on the control unit (bench method). Both approaches are non-invasive, leave no visible traces and require no disassembly of components.

Is chip tuning for construction machinery legal?

Construction machinery is not subject to road registration requirements like passenger cars and therefore falls under a different legal framework. Individual ECU calibration is generally permissible. For commercially used machines, it is advisable to check with the machinery insurer — in practice, no problems arise with professionally carried out work.

Does the manufacturer warranty become void?

For new machines with an active factory warranty, the manufacturer may investigate whether any fault is related to the ECU change. Since the original file can be restored without trace at any time, this can be managed in practice. For machines without an active manufacturer warranty, this is not an issue.

How long does the process take?

Reading and programming takes 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the machine type. For bench tuning directly on the control unit, the processing time at the chip developer is 1–3 working days. Overall, the machine is typically out of service for half a day to one day.

From which year of manufacture is chip tuning possible?

Generally from around the year 2000, provided an electronic engine management system is fitted. Older machines with purely mechanical injection pumps require a different approach. For specific enquiries about model and year, simply get in touch.
